Make this 4th of July Weekend UNFORGETTABLE πΊπΈ π½
Also: explore American history outside of the city's freedom trail and venture over to Charlestown (July 1st - 7th, 2024)
Your guide to celebrating the 4th in Boston πΊπΈ π
The most iconic thing to do in Boston this week is to attend Boston's Pops free Concert and Fireworks Spectacular along the banks of the Charles River. Every year over 1,000,000 spectators come to this event to watch these pyrotechnics reach as high as 1,500 feet! π
π What you need to know about The Boston Pops:
- 12pm - Security check-in begins for those who want to wait in line to secure the best viewing spots
- 8pm - Boston Pops Concert at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade begins
- Headliners: Darlene Love, Kelli O'Hara, and The Mavericks
- If you want to be able to actually see the concert, you need to be within the Oval - the grassy area in front of the Hatch Shell (this means lining up early!)
- 10:30pm - Boston Pops Fireworks 30-minute show begins
Tip: If you just want a great view of the fireworks, the Cambridge side of the Charles tends to be comparatively less crowded than the Boston side!
Feel like diving into American history this weekend? πΊοΈ We got you covered with your visit to Charlestown Navy Yard, one of Boston's historical site.
Charlestown Navy Yard was one of the oldest shipbuilding facilities in the United States Navy established in 1801. It's now home to the USS Constitution Museum and docked USS Constitution, also know as the "Old Ironsides" - a ship that was able to live through its time at war. π³οΈ
Plus: On July 4, the USS Constitution will depart Charlestown Navy Yard, cruise through Boston Harbor, and pass Fort Independence in Southie at 11:30am for a 21-gun salute! At 12pm, welcome the ship back to the Navy Yard, and enjoy live music, games, mini-golf, and much more! π
For our 21+ readers: Check out The Anchor at 1 Shipyard Park right next to the museum to cool off with a specialty frozen red, white and blue margaritas, and enjoy a week full of events called DockFest! π₯³
